Sacred Ecstasy - by Yuval Ron

Don’t open the door to the study and begin reading.
Take down a musical instrument.
Let the beauty we love be what we do.
— Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi

This month, we read a chapter that is less a lecture and more a door.

In “Sacred Ecstasy,” Chapter 2 of Divine Attunement, Yuval Ron invites us into the intimate space where music becomes a path to the Divine. Drawing from his lived experiences with both Mevlevi Sufi ceremonies and Hassidic gatherings, he reveals a profound resonance between these two mystical traditions: the shared longing, the rhythm of devotion, and the ecstasy born not of indulgence, but of self-emptying.

Whether it is the whirling of the dervish or the trembling voice of the Hasid in prayerful song, both offer a way home, through presence, discipline, and surrender.

Together, we’ll read and reflect on this sacred intersection of sound and soul.

No prior knowledge of either tradition is necessary. Bring your curiosity and your listening heart.
