“The soul presents itself in symptoms, in suffering, and in longing.” - Thomas Moore
For Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re gathering around the first two chapters of Care of the Soul by Thomas Moore - a modern classic that reframes our understanding of psychological suffering, not as something to be solved, but as something to be listened to.
Moore draws from depth psychology, mythology, and spiritual traditions to guide us toward a way of being that honors the complexity of the human soul. We’ll explore questions like:
What does it mean to “care” for the soul, not just “fix” it?
How do symptoms of anxiety, melancholy, or stagnation carry meaning?
Can soulful living help us stay present with our wounds - rather than rush past them?
